I had my crew of ten try and eat this thing and they got half way through before giving up.

Haha, it's like the movie Elf. But, seriously, I'd release the Kraken on that...looks delicious

That's not "a little out of hand"; it is totally pornographic... in the good sort of way.  I've been salivating and thinking about it since seeing for the first time.  And I keep coming back for another glimpse... and another...

Many Americans (US) have probably seen the Jack In The Box fast food restaurant ad for the big, juicy, heart-stopping bacon cheeseburger where the kid is so smitten by the burger and announces that he wants to "marry the bacon".  That kid, by the way, is the nephew of a friend of mine.  Anyway, I thought he had a good idea until now.  THIS is the perfect foodie bride or bridegroom!

Well...

It was a blustery, snowy day in Tahoe and I was shooting a video on how to make sourdough waffles. Wanting to illustrate the versatility of the waffle batter, I started to demonstrate a couple variations on the theme. What started with white chocolate chips and salted caramel quickly turned into pancetta waffles, duck confit with pistachios and dried cherries, and "the bacon, egg and cheese" waffle.

This quickly devolved into "what can we stuff into the waffle iron along with the batter." This spawned the "Elvis Waffle" (bananas, bacon and peanut butter), the pepperoni pizza waffle (complete with mozzarella and marinara) and the goat cheese and beet waffle (which was actually meant to make fun of the now cliche flavor pairing but turned out pretty good). When all was said and done, I had about 9 different waffles. The natural question then was "what do we do with all these waffles."

Answer: Stack them up, through on some bacon weaves, a few scoops of ice cream and anything else that wasn't bolted down and then attempt to eat it:

Only one cherry on top though; after all, less is more.

Chef Jacob,

Does your Workers Compensation Insurance cover a bacon, goat cheese, maple syrup and ice cream induced heart attack?

@lenb,

No, never finished the video. Unfortunately, about a year and a half ago, my apartment got broken into and they stole my computer and back-up hard drive that I kept all my un-edited videos on. I lost about 3 months of work plus some original content I was working on.

Never re-shot the video, and although I might shoot a sourdough waffle video in the future, I don't think I'll ever be able to match this, which was created spur of the moment. Too bad too, it would've been a pretty epic video.
