2 - 40# bags of Lazzari Lump
Open 2 - 40# bags of Lazzari lump
1 garbage can of big stuff from 80#'s of lump
About 6 gallons of smaller lump out of 80#'s
About 10#'s of waste to throw away out of 80#'s
The reason you will throw it away instead of trying to salvage it is, the pieces are so small they will choke out your fire and you cannot maintain a steady even heat.
I buy these 40# bags of Lazzari Lump at my local Cash & Carry for $13.95 per bag.
I hope this helps.
Another great post. Thanks so much for your contributions to Stella Culinary!
@Zalbar,
Maybe some sort of custom molds, a little water, and a vice? Sounds like a fun project.
I would be trying to find a way to make some kind of compression tool to make briquettes...
If it's pretty much dust, you shouldn't need a compression device. I can remember, in harder times, filling small cartons with coal dust, soaking them and letting them dry out. When you put the whole carton on the fire, it melds into a block.
Might be worth trying.
